Hey, I've gotten a few questions recently about whether or not the group is still active.
The answer is yes, I and our mods regularly check the submissions and give advice to group members about what they're submitting or general tips for improving writing, art, and development. Very rarely does a day go by that I personally am not checking on the group activity.

However as many of our members prefer to put their development work on their personal blogs rather than on DA (preferring to upload only finished pieces instead), we have a Tumblr blog to help inspire and showcase our member work there at umbagog.tumblr.com

But what about the NPC's? How come I've not been posting as much about them of late?
Well currently, I've been working very hard on converting my original characters' stories into a graphic novel. I've been working on their stories for a while now and though I share that development here too, I'm more often working behind the scenes lately. It's a longterm project that probably won't see the light of day for another year or two, but I'm confident about where it's going. It involves a lot of development and exploration since before this group was even public that I'm excited to see be a singular, complete work distinct from our public space.

So if you're wondering why things are quiet, this is why.

*(note, NO OCs made by members in this group are used in the book. I like making my own characters and respect our members too much to do that).
Please go to our main page to view our new organization and the newly restructed information widget on the upper righthand side of our page.

There will be some minor cleanup here and there later, but for now you may get crackin on the new Challenge System.

Major changes:
  • challenges no longer specific to species
  • character sheets are due after Survival Stage is completed
  • New sheet type: collective sheets. Any characters you create during Society Stage can now be used independently and complete their own challenges.
  • New group type: Mad Bears. Psychotic kill-or-be-killed gang of human survivors without consistent leadership. You're free to assume control of or create a minor gang within them.
  • better organization. rules and challenges are presented more clearly for easier reading
  • Fewer challenges required in order to rank up

Thanks for helping make this happen!
Hey folks! An impending rehaul of Umbagog's information and challenges is upcoming and will be ongoing until January 1st. We're hoping to start the new year with a clean slate.

Changes include:

Completely rewritten entries for groups.
Easier to comprehend information
New challenges
DRAMATICALLY overhauled challenge structure which includes a new leveling system
Introduction of a new type of sheet called the "collective sheet".
And much more.

Over time we'll be revising and replacing some of the artwork for the group as well, mostly to help clarify the written portions. I want to put together a default sheet too for folks to work with so there's less confusion about what's needed and take pressure off writers and artists trying to think up necessary information.

Any folks already in the group who've initiated challenges are welcome to skip the first stage and move directly to the next stage.

We're hoping for a lot of feedback and to see how the new system works out for everyone. This has been several months in the making and I'm nervous and excited to see how y'all take to it.
Happy storytelling!

ADDITION:
Some html edits already went up, including a deletion of old information and moving all of that old stuff to an archive. So it's still accessible, just no long front and center.

Toss in your name and character if you want to participate. You'll be randomly assigned to someone.

Hey folks, Supergroup status ran out on our DeviantArt group site and it's going to cost $60 to bring it back for another year.

Supergroup status allows us to customize appearance, set up polls, and declare meet up dates and places. It also allows for better organization and layout, necessary since DA's group organization thingy kind of sucks for big places like us.

Anyone willing to donate a few bucks to that cause, it would be mighty welcome. Just shoot our blog or this deviantart account a note and I'll give you a paypal to donate to us through.

Special thanks to :iconaazhie: for donating $30! Thanks Aazhie! I can now take care of the remaining amount :D
